just a quick report been doing a bit of match fishing this year. but with me being off work i thought id have a flyer down to the island as i was fed up and the weather was supposed to turn nasty from today.
Anyhow got to cable bay just on high water (got tides wrong ) set up 2 rod's one hoping for ray (big sandeel bait) and a 3 hook scratching rig. and it was pants from the start micro dab and y/ting.
The only thing that kept me from complete boredum was navy and raf menouvers out to sea which was very entertaining a a herculies was parachuting men out and what looked like a destroyer picking them up. aswell as chinooks. and the new european fighter even putting in an appearence.
anyhow got fed up there and headed for ravens. 2 hours before low set up the same again not a touch for nearly 2 hours strait out. so i opted for just lug bait's into the rough on the right.
Straight away tiny codling.
Then a tad bigger.
Next chuck a bit better bite. and a codling and coalie.
As soon as it went dark i started getting load's of little codling and the odd coalie so sacked it at 20.00 and home just after 21.30.
Think i'll stick to the match fishing for now and leave the island till june.
