Dear Supporter,

Vietnam Trek 7th-16th October 2011

Following the success of our China Trek back in May 2010...we are doing it again!

We
are grabbing our hiking boots and bamboo walking poles this unique
fundraising challenge to Vietnam. On this adventure, we will climb on
the top of one of the highest mountains in South East Asia, Mount
Fansipan (3,100m), in north Vietnam’s Lao Cai Province. It takes three
days to reach the peak and back and is a challenging climb, not least,
because there are no mountain huts on the way and therefore camping is a
necessity! No ropes or technical climbing skills needed, just
endurance, plenty of energy and the determination to succeed!

After
conquering this giant we will take the second part of the challenge;
giving time to help a small community in a town called Ba Vi. We will
work alongside the local people to provide assistance at a variety of
projects depending on the need at the time, such as an orphanage or a
centre for disabled children. Activities could include refurbishment of
buildings, gardening, redecorating and interacting with the local
children.

This
really is a unique fundraising experience and challenge and during
these uncertain economic times, for the many children across the UK
suffering from life-threatening illnesses, time will not wait so it is
essential that we have the funds available to grant their special Wishes, often acting very quickly.

Over
the years we have been privileged to meet so many incredible children
and gaining an insight into their arduous journeys has both warmed and
broken our hearts. Each Wish brings with it to opportunity to
look forward to something very special, to forget about their often
painful treatments to simply be a child for the day, creating a lifetime
of treasured memories for the children and their families. Having seen
the profound impact the experience has on the whole family we felt we
needed to ensure that despite the difficult economic times these brave
children can continue to have their dreams fulfilled.

So
in October 2011 we are all quite simply putting on our walking boots
and trekking Mount Fansipan in Vietnam to ensure we raise the funds
necessary to grant every single precious Wish that we receive from the most incredibly brave and courageous children.

How can you get involved?

Corporate support
We need corporate donationsto help us towards our goal but we understand that there is not always funding available as perhaps there used to be! Whatever
you can give will really make a difference and donating is a great way
to make your company stand out amongst the competition alongside
offering numerous PR and marketing opportunities via our website,
facebook, newsletter and logo’s on the team’s kit for trek!

Employee
fundraising is also a great way to support our Vietnam Trek Appeal.
Research shows that employers offering ‘Employee Fundraising’ are more
likely to retain staff and have higher levels of moral. We can fully
support your company’s employee fundraising offering exciting
fundraising opportunities and engagement.

Individual support
Help
us by making a donation, you can either do this by asking us about how
you can ‘Give as You Earn’, by sending a donation to our Head Office
address or donating through our Just Giving page at www.justgiving.com/vietnamtrek2011

Family/Friends/Colleagues
Why
not get together and organise an event for in your group or circle of
friends? You can enjoy an afternoon or evening of fun, we have lots of
ideas and can fully support you to help us continue our magical work.

Help us!
Support our Vietnam Trek Appeal and help us to ensure we can raise the money needed to continue granting the Wishes that we receive from children suffering from life-threatening illnesses.
Whether you are an individual, social group, circle of friends or a company, you can make a Wish come true, creating the most incredible experience and precious memories that last a lifetime.

The number 8 is considered very lucky by the Vietnamese, a word meaning ‘prosperity’, ‘fortune’ or ‘wealth’. So please help us, to make 2011 a lucky year for When You Wish Upon a Star by donating
£8,
or raising £80 or even £800 amongst your friends or colleagues which
would pay for a child accompanied by a guardian to experience our
magical trip of a lifetime to meet the real Father Christmas in Lapland
this year!

Join us!

If
you would like to go one step further than supporting our Vietnam Trek
Appeal why not join us! We have a growing team of trekkers from local
businesses and the community and would love you to join this very unique
challenge. If you would like more information about trekking the Mount
Fanispan in October 2011, please contact Maggie at maggie.falconer@whenyouwish.org.uk or 0115 9791720.

Kindest Regards,

Maggie
