Pike fishing social
Ardseley Reservoir Part Deux
I arrived at 8.45 with badger & Gaz already there was Ady, Todd, and Nidge
i set my rods up put my bait on and cast out as far as i could we had a strong cross wind so it was making casting very difficult i was hitting distances of around 40yards but it wasn't long after i got my rods set up and my bivvy out when i had my first run it was only a small fish Ady hand landed it for me it was about 3 and a half pound as we were getting the camera out to take a pic's (because we didn't know if we would catch another) Ady got jelouse and threw it back in the water .... :J?K!: no the clumsy sod dropped it and it swam back into the depths so unfortunately no pic.
no long after that i had another run same left hand rod slightly bigger fish fought like a double it was peeling line off my reel and the clutch was working well.
result 4lb pike
after that there was another run yet again from my left hand rod bigger fish Ady (My Gilly Bitch) hand landed it again and this fish was 7lbs on the dot as we weighed it.
well nothing happened for a while after that badger turned up set up his rods and got his baits out we then fell back to our Indian settlement for a few beers and a good laugh mainly at young Todds expense ... but he took it very well and gave it back just as good !
Checked our lines made sure everything was good !
i must say we did a whole lot of laughing and drinking it was brilliant and i genuinely mean this i thought all the lads were 100% and would defiantly love to hook up and go fishing with them again ! top lads !
well it was about time for another run off my left hand rod again !!! yes the pike man had "ANOTHER" run !
this fish was over 5lbs and had another set of trebles stuck into it's stomach so Ady and myself operated on a thought to be dead fish ! i thought the hooks were barbed but luckly they weren't so Ady pulled them until we saw the point then i went up through the gills and cutt of the end of the point and Ady just scooped them out !
well done !!!
that was it for runs for me so at 10pm i pulled in my rods and 1 hr after Ady got a run 24Lber ...bar steward !!!
Morning came i was knackard i set out my rods and went back into my bivvy i was propper fooked !
as i was packing up my kit i heard my right hand rod go my indicator dropped i felt the line and there was a pike pulling away so i wound down and struck i could feel the fish on shaking it's head but sadly it came off GUTTED!
i think this picture says it all !
Ady also found some set lines /traps BASTARDS!!!
