Buttonhole 04-09-2009

Post by martin. on Sun Sep 06, 2009 11:01 am

Well i arrived just after 0715 & set up on the same peg that Andrew had his pole lesson on last year.
There was a slight wind blowing straight into my face & it gave out the wind increasing during day.
With this in mind i decided to just fish 1 line at 8m on deck starting with maggots then switching to pellet if carp moved in

I fed 4 cups of blacksilver baits Black Magik groundbait laced with 4mm pellets & a few maggots, i started double maggots & it was a fish a chuck from the start only roach & perch to about 6 ozs, after an hour i had a finicky bite so i struck & the elastic was disapearing round the corner of the island then there was a ping when the 3lb hooklength gave way.
Straight away i switched to my margin pole on the same line with 20 = lacy 8lb line straight tthrough to a 14 animal barbless hook baited with 6mm carpvader breamax pellet.
first put in resulted in a carp about 2lb then it was carp all the rest of the day & they came very regularmost between 1 & 3 lb but a few bonus ones as well, i also lost several do to foulhooking & some of the scales that came back on the hook were quite large.

A few of the bonus carp
5lb 14ozs

8lb 0ozs

7lb 13ozs

5lb 9ozs

4lb 2ozs

Although the above carp were larger i think my catch of the day was a crucian which pushed the scales to be flickering between 2-14 & 3lb pressed the hold button on scales & it stayed at 2-14 which is still a new PB for me
Crucian 2lb 14ozs

A very good days fishing that i realy enjoyed
