down in the wolds

Post by joe roberts on Sat Jul 12, 2008 4:06 pm

with all the mutt action going on we decided it was our turn for a few. so after scratching our head's thinking where to try we headed down to lincolnshire as we didnt fancy rock channel or scratching around the island.
the plan was to do an all nighter friday so we headed across the m62 then down the coast tea time friday and after a 4 hour drive we met up with paul (coalie).

so we ended up not far from here.

first stop grub then met up with paul on a local beach. bait of the day was plenty of fresh peeler's and a back up of plenty of frozen.

got to the beach and the weather men had got it wrong it was supposed to be westerly wind's but in fact it was more slight northerly making the sea a bit choppy instead of a flat calm so undetered we carried on. set up with 20 lb main line pulley rig's with 4/0 and plenty of crab.

we didnt wait long.

my first smutt in a long time. a nice starry.

then paul get's a nice one.

then me with my second this time a common.

after a few hour's it went quiet so we headed for another mark to fish over high. this only produced one more again to paul.

fished this beach well into the ebb. then once again we moved back to our first venue to fish over low and into the dawn again here it was slow. we put it down to the surf.
but un detered we carried on and as paul was about to leave he had one more.

by this time me and deg's were getting tired but we fished it down to low before the 4 hour journey back home. paul said his fair well's until next time and me and deg's wrapped it at 08.00.

and this was my final fish of a long 12 hour stint.

must say great company. and a very expensive trip due to the fuel price's 420 mile and £70 worth of fuel but happy as larry and the smutt's are now of my spiecie's list.
